Lorenz Rau will take over as CEO of Messe Augsburg on March 1, 2020, replacing caretaker CEO and city manager Thomas Schmidt-Tancredi. 36-year-old Rau started his career at Hamburg Messe as a consultant for product development. He is currently with Kölnmesse, where he is responsible for Anuga, the world reference fair for the food and beverages industry. Rau was able to convince the shareholders that he is the right person for the position in a multi-stage selection process. His appointment was decided unanimously.
