At its annual press conference in June, Kölnmesse still seemed confident that exhibitions would resume soon. However, after several groups of industry sectors involved in the fairs scheduled in Cologne this autumn announced that they would not be participating at this stage of the pandemic and in the face of slow visitor ticket sales, there seems to be no other choice: The management board of Kölnmesse decided after close consultation with the supervisory board not to stage any events of its own in Cologne until the end of October 2020. Exhibition boss Gerald Böse: "Unfortunately […] we did not succeed in easing our customers' deep-seated doubts around in-person business meetings in the autumn, and their attitude is understandable at the moment". The events affected by this decision are Spoga+Gafa (September 6 to 8), Kind + Jugend (September 17 to 20), Dmexco (Sepember 23 and 24), Orgatec (October 27 to 31) and Euvend & Coffeena (October 29 to 31). The art fairs Art Cologne and Cologne Fine Art & Design in November are not affected. (ch)
