Messe München has acquired Glasstech Asia / Fenestration Asia, the leading trade fair for glass manufacturing, processing, and machinery in the Asean region, to expand its network of BAU global leading fairs in Asia. The first edition under the direction of the Bavarian exhibition organisers will take place this November 2020 in Bangkok. Of equal strategic importance is the cooperation between Bau China and the China National Building Waterproof Association (CWA): The agreement includes integration of the China Roofing & Waterproofing Expo organised by CWA into Bau China from 2020. Glasstech Asia / Fenestration Asia takes place once a year, rotating between several countries in the Southeast Asian region (2018 Malaysia, 2019 Indonesia). As the "Glass Hub of Southeast Asia", the three-day event provides a meeting place for the Southeast Asian glass and glazing sector. Edward Liu, founder and owner of CEMS, the previous organiser of Glasstech Asia, sees in Messe München International, after their collaboration in the 1990s when they jointly organised the Baucon series in Singapore, "a good partner in not only maintaining the growth of our Glasstech Asia series, but to bring the event to greater heights under the 'new normal'". The China Roofing & Waterproofing Expo will take place for the first time alongside Bau China in Beijing in 2020 and then from 2021 co-locate with Bau China in SNIEC, the Shanghai New International Expo Centre.
