kf - Wednesday, March 18, 2020

The fiscal year 2019 was a good one for Informa Markets as the events division of Informa Group saw an underlying revenue increase of +4.3% to £1,450m. The adjusted operation profit added up to £493.3m, an underlying increase of +7.5% compared to 2018. The adjusted operation margin was 34%. In 2019, Informa Markets accounted for 50.2% of group revenue and 52.9% of adjusted operating profit. This included revenue of £101m from biennial events. The top 50 event brands account for about 50% of the division's revenues. All divisions entered 2020 with positive momentum and a strong pipeline of activity and forward bookings. As the impact of COVID-19 became clear, rescheduling started through a dedicated postponement programme. Around 45 large events will be moved to a later date in 2020. Stephen A. Carter, group chief executive, Informa PLC, said: "We are facing a 2020 impact from COVID-19 in our events-related businesses and so we have used our strong customer and supplier relationships to swiftly deploy a material postponement programme, shifting our events calendar to later dates in 2020. Our brands and strong platforms continue to provide attractive opportunities for further market specialisation and future growth".
