Art Basel Hong Kong, scheduled to take place from March 19 to 21, 2020 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), has been called off by MCH Group, Basle, Switzerland. Reason: Outbreak of the new coronavirus. The organisers see no other option since the World Health Organization, WHO, has declared the outbreak a global health emergency. Another factor is fundamental concern for the health and safety of all those working at and attending the fair, the severe logistical challenges facing the build-out and transit of artwork to the show, and the escalating difficulties complicating international travel. The next edition of Art Basel in Hongkong will take place March 25 to 27, 2021.
