Dampened economic prospects in many countries have somewhat slowed the upward development of German exhibitions. However, overall the 163 international and national exhibitions in 2019 evaluated by the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry AUMA achieved stable results compared with their respective previous events. Exhibitor numbers rose by around one percent and exhibitor stand space increased on average by half a percent. The association recorded around three percent more foreign exhibitors and visitors, while the total number of visitors decreased by about two percent, due in part to developments in the automotive sector. Auma chairman Philip Harting expressed satisfaction with the results. For 2020, the Berlin-based association anticipates overall stable results for international und national exhibitions. (ch)
