Nürnbergmesse to build fourth convention centre

Starting late in 2024, Nürnbergmesse is to invest around 200 million euros in NCC Süd, "a further architectural and functional highlight of the Exhibition Centre", says Nürnbergmesse CEO Peter Ottmann. The present Hall 3 will be demolished after the toy fair and Hoga 2021. The new NCC Süd will be the exhibition centre's fourth convention centre and, according to CEO Roland Flech, form the future heart of the "The new Süd" complex, which will be flanked by the adjacent exhibition halls 3A and 3C. In total, "The new Süd" will provide a gross exhibition capacity of around 32,000 square metres. Nürnbergmesse will also seek DGNB certification, sustainability being one of the location's top priorities. The new NCC Süd will form the striking capstone of the overall 400-metre-long complex designed by Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHD), Fleck explains. Both Nürnbergmesse CEOs expressed their satisfaction with the year 2019 at the company's annual press conference on January 9, 2020. It has been the most successful odd-numbered year in the history of the group, which closed with 280 million euros, although the final figures from abroad have yet to be consolidated. "All in all, it indicates that our business performance remains as dynamic as ever, and in sales we have grown again relative to the comparable 2017 year – and incidentally, by a full 25 percent", said Ottmann. For 2020, the two CEOs are aiming for sales of around 350 million euros.
