Ongoing instability in Hongkong is the reason given by Global Produce Events (GPE), a joint venture between Messe Berlin and Fruitnet Media International, Düsseldorf, for the relocation of Asia Fruit Logistica 2020 (September 16 to 18) to the Singapore Expo site near Changi Airport. The Asiafruit Congress will take place on September 15 in the convention wing of Max Atria. "We need to take care of the interests and concerns of exhibitors and trade visitors, who naturally expect clarity", said Will Wollbold, commercial director of Asia Fruit Logistica. Singapore offers a lively and innovative business environment, says Wollbold, and has demonstrated its potential by staging high-quality events. "Singapore is very well situated in South East Asia and creates further excellent business opportunities for our customers in the region", Wollbold adds. The September 16 to 18, 2020 slot is very close to the traditional exhibition date. After the fair in late summer, GPE will decide where future Asia Fruit Logistica events will take place.
