The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) awarded the TCF Center LEED Gold Certification on October 9, 2019, after an extensive application process. "By prioritising sustainability, TCF Center is leading the way in its industry. It is moving beyond construction and efficiency and finding ways to help us improve our quality of life by creating spaces that prioritise health and well-being", said Mahesh Ramanujam, president and CEO, USGBC. TCF Center was recognised by LEED for several best practices resulting in the certification. High efficiency for having 1200 parking spaces on the rooftop was noted, along with the reflective surfaces of the roof and the venue's Living Green Roof. Efficiency of water use was highly rated as was the venue's sustainability marketing efforts with specific credit to the "Sustainability Lives Here" campaign designed by Detroit-based Lovio George Communications. "We continue to make strides in improving the sustainability of our offerings," said Claude Molinari, general manager TCF Center.
